As autumn draws in and drizzle threatens to dampen any al fresco dining experience, make the most of some outdoor cooking whilst you can.
Gather friends and family to eat together. Light the firepit to extend your enjoyment of the summer evenings. Play card games and enjoy a post-BBQ hot chocolate and marshmallow cooking session.
Throw a garden party
The thought of hosting an indoor party can seem a bit daunting …especially the post-party tidy up! But, don’t be a party pooper this summer, throw the BEST garden party instead.

Enjoy a picnic
Is it just us or are picnics something that you forget about before each summer arrives and then remember how nice it is to pack up a basket full of goodies, venture in to the countryside, throw out a blanket and spend the afternoon nibbling away at some favourite picnic treats, as well as sipping on a cool drink?
Whether in the shade of a big tree or by a river, plan one last picnic before the summer is out.
It can be a fun family affair, accompanied by rounders, flying a kite or going for a post-lunch walk.
Or it can be a truly romantic affair...some time to enjoy each others' company. Pack some Champagne or your favourite bubbles to make it extra special...plus a flask of coffee, warm jumpers and a couple of extra blankets and indulge in an evening picnic as the sun goes down and the stars come out.

Head to the beach
Even on a cloudy day, you can’t beat a trip to the beach.
The British weather doesn’t often mean it’s a sun drenched, sea swimming occasion – but make the best of the UK beach experience with a crabbing, shell collecting, visiting the arcades and enjoying a fish and chip supper.
For the dog lovers, there’s nothing better than seeing Fido jumping in and out of the waves and chasing the seagulls away.
For an extra special beach visit, why not take a bottle of something refreshing and cold. If you have a mini BBQ (and the rules allow), cook some delicious fish and seafood right there on the sand.
With a group of friends or a loved one, make the most of our gorgeous and plentiful coastline, this August and September.

Go camping
Get back to nature and spend some time amongst the trees – we all know they have fantastic healing qualities.
Relax, switch off and go back to basics with a traditional camping trip. Hone your fire lighting skills and your "backwoods cooking". A standard skill for any good scout.
It doesn’t have to be all about roughing it and foraging for dinner – take with you some extra special treats for cosy evening around the fire.

Make lasting memories at a music festival
There are still plenty of music festivals planned for the end of the summer – the most famous being the Reading and Leeds Music Festivals, over the August Bank Holiday, of course.
Plus, there’s Carfest South and then Radio 2 Live in early September, if they are more your scene and music taste!
We’re not so good at ‘slumming it’, here at hampers.com, so make sure you’ve got your little home comforts like a blow up mattress and a decent pillow if you are staying over…or better still book a nearby B&B! Ok…perhaps, that’s not the attitude!
Our top tip for any big end of summer event – be it a festival, fete or local fair, is make sure you have a really good look at the timetable and the site map before you go. Plan all of your must sees and must attends, and then a list of ‘that’ll be good if we can make it or squeeze it in’. Make the most of every moment...
And then, when you get home book in some me-time. It’s always epic attending a festival but also exhausting!
