A taste of history...
All the way back in 1932, a Belgian baker named Jan Boone Sr., created a caramelized biscuit, using nothing but natural ingredients. He named it ‘Lotus’ after the flower that symbolises purity. Eagerly snapped up by cafés and restaurants, the biscuits proved an instant hit, due to the complementary taste profiles of coffee and the caramelised biscuit – boosting each other’s flavour.
Lotus Biscoff has continued to rise in popularity ever since, and coffee’s classic companion has also become a firm favourite with creative chefs and home bakers. Used to create delicious desserts, the caramelised, crunchy little hero has really made its mark in the baking world!
