Loose Cannon's origin story begins with its founder, Will Laithwaite, whose journey took an unexpected turn towards brewing beer after leaving university with a degree in Ancient History.
Despite the odds, Will's adventurous spirit led him to create Loose Cannon Brewery in Abingdon on Thames, an ancient market town steeped in rich brewing tradition - and coincidentally, the home of hampers.com!
Abingdon boasts a long-standing connection to brewing, dating back to ancient times when knights roamed its streets on horseback. Over the centuries, various breweries flourished and shaped the town's identity.
It was here that Will's vision took shape, inspired by the town's rich heritage and a desire to create something truly special.
Humble Origins
In 2010, a new chapter began as Will and his faithful friend Caleb embarked on a brewing adventure, starting Loose Cannon Brewery’s story in a modest industrial unit with big dreams and even bigger ideas.
From humble origins, Loose Cannon Brewery captured the hearts of locals by involving them in the brewing process. From this collaborative effort came Abingdon Bridge, a classic English Bitter with a modern twist.
